CFSI presents second edition of National Children’s Film Fest in Jaipur

Mumbai – 3rdNovember 2016 - The Children's Film Society of India (CFSI) has announced the second edition of three-day National Children's Film Festival (NCFF). Coinciding with Children’s Day, the three-day fest will be held from November 14 to 16, 2016 in Jaipur with the theme of the festival being 'Make in India'.

In a bid to showcase films made in India as well as expand children's film market in India and abroad, CFSI will screen around 40 films including many of the award-winning movies such asGopi Gawaiya Bagha Bajaiyaa, Kima’s Lode, Budhia Singh (On the run) among others.

The inaugural function of this film festival will happen at Birla Auditorium, Jaipur while the movies willbe screened across 10 theatres in the city for three days. Ram Choyal’s Gauru, a film set in the background of Rajasthanwith Ila Arun as one of the leading castswill be the curtain-raiser. 

Mr. Mukesh Khanna, Chairperson, CFSI said,“I am happy that our whole staff of CFSI is once again geared up for the second edition of National Children Film Festival from 14th November to 16th November 2016 in Jaipur. I am more happy that Children of great city of Jaipur will celebrate three days of Festival with us. Jaipur is a colourful city with rich cultural background. Dance, music, vibrant costumes, beautiful handicrafts you name them and they are there. To this we will add vivid panorama of Children films of all kinds from our side. And I am sure Children of Jaipur would love to see their world through our films specially made for them. As Chairman of CFSI I wish them a great enjoyable festival and through Shaktimaan I give them lots of Shakti to learn and motivate themselves through these Children films."

Dr. Shravan Kumar, Festival Director 2nd NCFF2016 &CEO, CFSI, says, "We have successfully curated international and national film festivals over the last 4 years. Our International Children’s Film Festival is the largest film festival being organised anywhere in the world. On similar lines, we created another exciting property in 2014, National Children’s Film Festival, that saw huge success and participations in its first edition.Nurturing their creativity and exposing the children from across India to a value based entertainment through CFSI movies was the thought behind conceiving the National Children’s Film Fest two years back. As the director of the film Fest, I am happy to see film makers as well as children showing interest in films made for them and by them.”

Bollywood celebsand many from the film fraternity working towards the cause of children’s cinema are expected to come and participate in the festival.Aimed at nurturing the dynamic children's film culture in the country, CFSI will also organise workshops on animation, script writing, film making, dance, theatre with a special focus on Little Directors, our flagship property.

2nd NCFF2016, which has incorporated 'Make in India' as its central theme, will screen movies, which will showcase India's potential in diverse fields. Besides, the festival will have many workshops and open forum discussions around this topic and children’s cinema.

CFSI’s 19thICFFI last year had received a record entry of 1204 films from 80 countries, with entries coming from countries like Mexico, Afghanistan, Switzerland, USA, Egypt, Portugal, Sweden, and Canada with an audience of nearly 2.5 lakh children.

Children's Film Society of India (CFSI) is a nodal organization of the Government of India that produces children's films and Television programs in various Indian languages. Established in 1955, CFSI activities come under aegis of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, and is headquartered in Mumbai. With an enviable catalogue of 260+ films in 15 different languages, CFSI remains the prime producer of children's films in South Asia.

CFSI also organizes film screenings across the country, reaching out to approximately four million children annually. Its marketing division, based in Mumbai with two branch offices in Chennai and Delhi, is engaged in the promotion of children's films through free exhibitions as well as through sales.
